About & Mission

We exist to strengthen Canadian democracy and governance through independent research and dialogue. Founded by Jonathan Wâsakâm Stewart Rigney, a proud member of a Métis family, the Institute is built on a commitment to rigorous, non-partisan inquiry.

Our work brings together policymakers, civil society, and industry leaders in neutral spaces to build solutions for the complex challenges facing Canada today and tomorrow.

Our Mission is Threefold:

  • Advance Research – producing rigorous studies on governance, trade, democratic resilience, and Indigenous–Crown relations.
  • Build Capacity – training the next generation of policy thinkers through our Rigney Fellows Program.
  • Convene Dialogue – creating forums for collaboration and problem-solving.
